Plastic Ocean Project is a non-profit based in Wilmington, NC dedicated to the preservation of our oceans.
We use 3 strategies to do this:
- Education through research
- Solutions through collaboration, and
- Outreach through art.
We have some really cool projects going on right now:
- Trees4Trash - is a partnership with the NC Wildlife Federation as a response to the destruction of Hurricane Florence and other superstorms on our old growth trees and pollution entering the ocean with each storm. We remove what doesn't belong and replace it with what does by planting a tree for every 25 lbs of trash collected.
- We are releasing a short film documentary early fall 2021 called, "Save the Whales 2.0", which is a must-see and we are hard at work in our lab studying microplastics and their impact on wildlife - including us!
Follow us on social media to stay informed (plasticoceanproject.org), join us for a clean-up or donate and support our work to keep our oceans clean because we can all agree, that beer tastes better on a clean beach!
